KITCHEN CONVERSATIONS is a project by artists Sveinung Unneland and Michael Stumpf initiated in the context of – and in relation to the kitchen of the studio-collective den uferdige institusjon (dui) in Bergen.
Born out of a desire to reflect and address what we as cultural workers experience as growing dissonance and discouragement within the field of art. A sentiment rooted in the experience and observation of the marketisation of education and an industrialisation of creativity. Kitchen Conversations aims to inspire a constructive discussion towards alternative possibilities. That can show us examples of how to organise our work and community in a different way.
The conversation will take place in the common kitchen of the unfinished institution at Laksevåg, Bergen. Conceived as a co-created sculptural object the kitchen is located within the space what constitutes the project-space of the studio. Kitchen Conversations aims to contribute to the kitchen as a cross-disciplinary project that will develop over time through physical and conceptual interventions.
The format will be an hour-long round table conversation between Sveinung, Michael and an invited guest. That we imagine evolving around:
Kitchen conversations hopes to establish a dialogue with individual artist and representatives of institutions, tolean toghether and establish an ongoing discourse and connection. The conversations will be recorded for archival purposes with the aim to be transcribed for digitalpublicaiotn and as printed matter.
